Cryptocurrency users are being marketed the island as a paradise as all payments will be made in cryptocurrencies, and land ownership, citizenship, and more will be available in form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT).
The island of Satoshi is located between Australia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji in the southern Pacific Ocean. According to its website, it is a 32-million-feet island dedicated to being a “real-world crypto economy and blockchain-based democracy.”
The cost of citizenship to Satoshi Island is $130,000, and more than 50,000 people have applied. On the project’s website, it is explained that the project has been in development for years and has just been approved by the Ministry of Finance. Modular homes are currently being constructed, and residents can expect to move in sometime in 2023.
